Z370 AORUS GAMING 7:
As I write this it is a few days before launch and Gigabyte is already pumping out Z370 BIOS updates and the website is fully built along with driver and utility downloads. This is all part of being a mature platform and it looks like Gigabyte is banking on this to be another successful launch.
My OCD also goes off looking at the image of the insulation, it was incorrect and needed more tucking under the handle with this peek under the final layer. I ran the Gaming 7 up to 6.1Ghz for a few non HyperThreaded benchmarks and it did exceptionally well in testing. I did not test for max frequency as I wanted a smooth cascade session. No problems found or noted other than I did had a bit of inconsistency in early BIOS but after update all problems seem to be gone. Gigabyte Z370 was able match the Apex in speed and beat it at XTU after an hour of memory tuning and using four memory modules and channel interleaving. The LN2 guys will destroy this as I am just cascade and limited in temperature that I can reach. |
If this XTU were to be posted at launch it would beat the 7800X cpu world record by more than 10%. I am on cascade, world record is currently on LN2.

With an AIO both chips were able to run with XTU stability at 5.2Ghz. I also tested a lot with Hyper threading off at 5.3Ghz.
This screen shot is from the newest Final Fantasy StormBlood benchmark. I ran this particular benchmark because it measures the loading time. On a single Samsung 960 EVO or an Intel 750 SSD the loading time is around 15 seconds and the HDD is around 57seconds, cached with Optane 32GB it checks in at just under 21 seconds showing a nice boost in loading times after the third launch. |
A threaded benchmark I pulled off at 6Ghz was GPUPI, I noticed it was using XMP settings as I was testing stuff to see what would run at 6Ghz.
With memory timing this score would be a lot better as I plowed through testing. I spent more time on Cinebench without every tweak in the book applied. Just a touch of timing and testing to see what the max speed these chips will run at -120C. |
